Publication: Enfeksiyon kontrol hemşirelerinin çalışma alanında yaşadığı güçlükler ve egitimin rolü
Abstract
Bu çalışma, enfeksiyon kontrol hemşirelerinin yaşadıkları güçlükleri değerlendirmek, güçlüklerle başa çıkmalarında eğitimin etkisini belirlemek ve çözüm önerileri geliştirmek amacıyla yapıldı. Araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul ilindeki 50 ve daha fazla yatak kapasitesine sahip kamu, üniversite ve özel hastanelerde görev yapan 115 enfeksiyon kontrol hemşiresi oluşturdu. Veriler, sosyodemografik ve mesleki özellikler, eğitim etkinlikleri, yaşanan güçlükler ve çözüm önerilerini içeren toplam 30 sorudan oluşan anket formu ile toplandı. Enfeksiyon kontrol hemşirelerinin yaş ortalamalarının 33 olduğu, yarısının lisans ve lisansüstü öğrenim mezunu, %84’ünün hastane enfeksiyonlarına yönelik eğitim programına katıldığı, ancak %64’ünün aldığı eğitimleri yeterli bulmadığı belirlendi. Hemşirelerin çoğunluğu, kendilerini geliştirmek için bilimsel etkinliklere katılmakta; öğrenim düzeyi yükseldikçe derneklere üyelik, kongre ve eğitim toplantılarına katılım, ek görevler azalmaktadır. Hemşirelerin çoğunluğu, kurumlarında sıklıkla anlatım yöntemi ve bilgisayar projeksiyonu kullanarak eğitim vermektedir. Hemşirelerin %63’ü eğitim yapmada, %42’si sürveyans yapmada, %44’ü hekimlerle iletişimde zorlanmaktadır. %72’si bağımsız çalışmanın iş doyumunu arttırdığını belirtmektedir. Hemşireler; çalışanların enfeksiyon kontrol önlemlerine yönelik duyarlılığın ve yayınların arttırılması, iş yükünün azaltılması ve maaşların iyileştirilmesini istemektedir. Sonuç olarak; öğrenim düzeyi arttıkça göreve ilişkin sorunların azaldığı görülmektedir. Enfeksiyon kontrol hemşirelerinin yaşadıkları güçlükleri azaltmak için eğitim programlarının geliştirilmesi ve eğitici eğitimlerinin düzenlenmesi önerilmektedir. Difficulties encountered by Infection control nurses during practice and the role of education This study was performed to evaluate the difficulties encountered during infection control practice by infection control nurses, the role of education in overcoming them and to propose solutions. The study group consisted of 115 infection control nurses working in community, private and university hospitals with more than 50 bed capacity in İstanbul. Data about sociodemographic and professional features, educational activities, difficulties encountered and proposed solutions was collected by a questionnaire consisting of 30 questions and evaluated with statistical tests. Infection control nurses’ mean age was 33. The half of them had baccalaureate and master’s and doctorate’s degree, 84% had attended an educational program about nosocomial infections, but 64% hadn’t found it satisfactory. Most of the nurses attended educational activities to improve themselves. As the educational degree increased, participation in congresses and scientific meetings, involving in society activities increased and extra duties decreased. Most of them gave instruction in their intitutions, using the lecture method and a computer projection. Sixty-three percent of them had difficulties in giving educational activities, 42% had difficulties in doing surveillence, 44% had difficulties in communication with the doctors and 72% stated that they had more satisfaction in their work if they worked more independently. Nurses wanted health care workers to have a more serious attitute towards infection control, an increase in the number of scientific literature, a decrease in workload and a raise in their incomes. In conclusion, as the educational degree increased, the difficulties in work decreased. So, improvement of educational activities involving the infection control nurses and educators will resolve the problems encountered. Key words: Infection control nurse, difficulties, education
