Publication: Endocrine aspects of neural tube defects
Abstract
Children with open neural tube defects (NTDs) are prone to several endocrine problems. Short stature and precocious puberty are the most common endocrine sequelae of NTDs; however, abnormalities in thyroid hormone and prolactin (PRL) have also been reported. Thus, multidisciplinary evaluation and management of NTDs should also include a thorough endocrine evaluation. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Italia.
