Abstract

Savaş’tan Barış’a Geçişte Medyanın Rolü; kamuoyu ve kamuoyu oluşumunda medyanın önemine değinerek başlıyor. Tez, medyanın asıl işlevinin savaşları bitirmek olmadığına, siyasi iradeyi etkileyebilecek kamuoyunun gücüne dikkat çekiyor. Kamuoyu oluştururken, propaganda faktörünün önemine değiniliyor. Savaş bölümünde, savaşlarda basının tutumu, kamuoyu oluşumu örnekleri ile veriliyor. Yakın dönem savaşlarında Vietnam örneği üzerinde duruluyor. Basının başarılı bir sınav verdiği Vietnam Savaşı, Körfez Savaşı ve diğer yakın dönem savaşları ile karşılaştırılıyor. Karşılaştırmada, basının asıl işlevini yerine getirip getirmediği tartışılıyor. Sansür ve basına getirilen kısıtlamalar sayesinde, savaşların olduğundan nasıl farklı yansıtıldığı anlatılıyor. Yazılı ve görsel basının kamuoyunu etkilemede oynadığı rol somutlaştırılıyor. Gazetecilerin savaşlardaki tutumu, karşılaştıkları zorluklar, objektif davranmada yaşadıkları ikilemler örnekleri ile veriliyor. İliştirilmiş olarak dilimize yerleşen Embedded gazeteciler de tartışmaya açılıyor. Embeddedlerin kendilerini nasıl savundukları, kendi imkanları ile cephede görev yapan gazeteciler ile aralarındaki farklar, savaşları embedded olarak izleyen Türk gazetecilerin ağzından yansıtılıyor. Daha sonra, bugüne kadar cephelerde görev yapan, alanda ya da haber merkezlerinde çalışan ve başkentlerin nabzını tutan gazetecilerin deneyimlerine yer veriliyor. Bu bölümde gazeteciler kendi düşüncelerini belirterek, medyanın savaşta ve barışta nasıl bir rol üstlenmesini gerektiğine dair görüşlerini paylaşıyor. Ekler bölümünde tezin konusu hakkında köşe yazarlarının görüşlerine yer veriliyor. Savaş’tan Barış’a Geçişte Medyanın Rolü, medyanın kamuoyu etkileme gücüne atıfta bulunuyor. Medyanın görevinin sadece haber vermek olduğunu, savaşları bitirecek asıl gücün kamuoyu olduğu işleniyor. Görüşlerini yazan gazeteciler de bu tezi destekleyen paralel açıklamalar yapıyor. Tez, savaşları medyanın bitirdiği düşüncesinin doğru olmadığını gösteriyor.

The Role of Media during the period of War passing through the Peace starts with mentioning the importance of Media.Thesis attracts attention that the main function of media is not to end the wars,but says that the power of public opinion is effective over the goverments. While the public opinion formed, propaganda is an important function during the wars. In the section of Wars,you will see the the way of behaving of media and public opinion stage is given with examples. Near period wars, Vietnam War is inspected deeply. Media was so succesfull in Vietnam War. Because the journalist worked hardly and really showed what happened in war. So I compared Vietnam War with Gulf War and the other near period wars. During the comparation, it is discussed if media did its real duty which is only to show what happens. And also the censorship and restrictions during wars is discussed .How can written and visual media effect the opinion of public. You will see in these pages also.The behaviours of reporters in tha wars, difficulties on the field, the objectivity dilemma is shown with samples. In the Thesis I studied embedded reporters too. How embeddeds defend theirselves, the differences between the reporters working in the field is given by mouths, the Turkish embedded reporters. After these, you will witness the experiences of the the reporters working on the military fronts, working in news centers or reporters following the developments in the capitals In this part , reporters mentioned their own ideas and answered the the question: “What is the role of media during war or peace, or the role of media during wars through the peace.” Artıcle writers teell their ideas about The Role of Media during the period of War passing through the Peace ın the appendix. This thesis attributes the influence power of media over the public opinion. It says the only duty of the media is to give news and the real power to end the wars is public opinion.I say “Media can end a war legend” is not true. The reporters who explained their ideas on these pages share the same opinion.
