Publication: Amasya Türk-İslâm mimarisinde yazı-mekân ilişkisi
Abstract
Amasya is a city that has hosted different states and cultures throughout history. It has been the research subject of many studies because it bears traces from before and after the Turkish-Islamic period. States that expanded their territories through conquests also built a written and architectural culture. While architectural works, which are indicators of construction activities, show the architectural style and understanding of the period in which they were built, inscriptions, which are important examples of written culture, give us information about the period to which they belong. Inscriptions are the identities of the buildings they are located in, as they contain information such as structure, patron, and construction date. There are various studies about the city of Amasya. Some of the studies are related to architecture and some are related to the inscriptions and tombstones found in the buildings. The inscriptions, which are the silent language of the building, tell many things about the patrons and artists. The investigation of the existence of a relationship between the founder of the building and the craftsmen involved in the construction and decoration of the building and the existence of different meanings represented by the words in the text is a situation that has not been mentioned in previous studies. This thesis was written in order to shed light on an unmentioned issue by establishing the relationship between the inscriptions and inscriptions in the buildings of the Turkish-Islamic period in the center of Amasya and the structure.
