Abstract
POPÜLER SİNEMADA EKOELEŞTİRİ: “AVATAR” VE “AÇLIK OYUNLARI” Gün geçtikçe büyüyen ekolojik sorunlar insan türü ile beraber pek çok türün devamlılığını tehdit etmektedir. İnsanın ekosistemin bir parçası olduğunu göz ardı ederek medeniyeti, doğanın tahakküm altına alınması ve sömürülmesi olarak görülmesi öncelikle kültürel bir sorundur. Ekolojik yıkıma neden olan somut süreçlerin kaynağı, kültür/ doğa karşıtlığına dayanan düalist düşünce biçimidir. Bu yüzden ekolojik meseleler sadece fen ve doğa bilimlerinin değil, sosyal bilimlerin de çalışma alanına girmektedir. Ekoeleştiri, kültürel metinlerde doğal varlıkların, insan-doğa ilişkisinin temsil edilme biçimlerini ekomerkezci bir bakışla inceleyerek insanmerkezci bakışın sessizleştirdiği doğanın sesi olmayı amaçlar. Sinemada ekoeleştirinin en önemli konularından biri, görsel/ işitsel metinler olan filmlerin, izleyicilerin doğaya yönelik algılarında nasıl somut değişimlere yol açacağı ve onun çevresel olarak nasıl doğru davranışlara yönelteceği konusudur. Çalışmada ekolojik yıkımın kültürel kaynakları incelenmiş, doğaya yönelik yanlış algıların değiştirilmesi, insanlara ekolojik bilinçlilik kazandırılması için sinema çalışmalarının üstlenebileceği rol araştırılmıştır. Küresel çapta milyonlarca seyirciye ulaşan Avatar ve Açlık Oyunları Serisi ekoeleştirinin ilgi alanına giren başlıklar üzerinden analiz edilmiştir. Ekoeleştiri, Ekosinema, Popüler Sinema
ECOCRITICISM IN POPULAR CİNEMA: “AVATAR” AND “HUNGER GAMES” The accretionary ecological problems threaten existence and continuity of the human race along with many other species. Perceiving civilization without considering humans as a part of the ecosystem causes the domination and exploitation of the nature which is primarily a cultural problem. Dualist way of thinking based on Culture versus Nature dichotomy is the source of the concrete processes causing ecological destruction. Therefore, ecological topics are not only examined within the scope of natural sciences, but also social sciences. Ecocriticism examines representation forms of human-nature relationship within the cultural texts with an ecocentric perspective; ecocriticism aims to be the voice of the nature that is silenced by anthropocentric perspective. One of the substantial topics of the cinema is how films as visual/ audial texts effects the nature perception of the audiences and how audiences’ behaviors on environment can be influenced accurately. In this thesis study, cultural sources of the ecological destruction are examined and also cinema studies’ role on changing misdetections on nature and increasing human ecologic consciousness are researched.
