Publication: Dijital interaktif anlatılarda izleme deneyiminin dönüşümü
Abstract
Dijital interaktif anlatılar, neoliberal söylemde izleyicilerin kendi seçimlerini yapan, faillik imkanına sahip aktif kullanıcılara dönüşeceği idealiyle özdeşleştirilmişlerdir. Fakat izleyiciler algoritmik arayüzler dolayımıyla anlatıyla doğrudan temas kurdukları örneklerde dahi, platform ve anlatı tarafından yönlendirilmeye devam etmektedir. Yaygın isteğe bağlı dijital yayıncılık platformlarından biri olan Netflix’te yer alan Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) anlatısının izleme deneyimini anlamaya çalışan bu çalışmanın konusunu dijital interaktif anlatıların izleme deneyimi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) neo-Aristotelyen anlatı geleneği perspektifinden ele alınmıştır. Netflix platformu ekonomi politik perspektiften ele alınarak kendine ait özellikleri çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018), bireysel olarak deneyimlenebilmektedir. Bu deneyimi anlamak amacıyla çevrimiçi yapılandırılmış derinlemesine görüşme ve çevrimiçi görüşme formu yöntemleriyle Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) anlatısını deneyimlemiş 25 kişiye ulaşılmıştır. Sonuç olarak katılımcıların performatif bir biçimde aktif olduğu yanılgısını deneyimledikleri, anlatının izleme deneyimi geleneksel anlatılardan farklılaşsa da bu dönüşümün egemen Neoliberal söylemin interaktivite vaadi doğrultusunda gerçekleşmediği görülmüştür.
Digital interactive narratives have been identified in the ideal in neoliberal discourse that viewers will become active users who make their own choices and have the possibility of agency. However, even in instances where viewers come into direct contact with the narrative through algorithmic interfaces, they continue to be guided by the platform and the narrative. The subject of this study, which tries to understand the viewing experience of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) on Netflix, one of the common on-demand digital publishing platforms, is the viewing experience of digital interactive narratives. In this study, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) is discussed from the perspective of the neo-Aristotelian narrative tradition. The Netflix platform has been perused from the political economy perspective within the framework of its own characteristics. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) can be experienced individually. In order to understand this experience, 25 people who experienced the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) narrative were reached through online structured in-depth interview and online interview form methods. As a result, it was seen that the participants experienced the illusion of being active in a performative way, and although the viewing experience of the narrative differs from traditional narratives, this transformation did not take place in line with the promise of interactivity of the dominant Neoliberal discourse.
