Ahmet Midhat Efendi’nin eserlerinde kadın

Abstract

Ahmet Efendi’nin kurmaca ve fikrî tüm eserlerini ele alarak hazırladığımız bu çalışma, yazarın kadın meselesi hakkındaki tavrı üzerine odaklanmakta ve bu konuyu çeşitli cepheleriyle araştırmaktadır. Yazarın kadınlar hakkındaki görüşleri ve kurmaca eserleri vasıtasıyla sergilediği kadın kahramanları, çalışmamızın esasını oluşturmaktadır. Kadın kahramanlarını toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri ve toplumun genel ahlâk anlayışı doğrultusunda kurgulayan yazar, bununla ilgili olarak onları belirginleşen bir karşıtlık içinde sunmaktadır. Bu yüzden onun yarattığı ideal kadın ve aykırı kadın imgesi, kurmaca dünyası içinde fark edilir bir husus olmaktadır. Başta eğitim ve aile kurumları içinde kadınların durumunu eserlerinde tartışmaya açan yazar, kadını dinî, sosyoekonomik, siyasî, hukukî cepheleriyle de ele almakta; birçok eserinde kadının kamusal alan ve özel alan içindeki hayatı üzerinden değerlendirmelerde bulunmaktadır. Kahramanların dinî kimlikleri doğrultusunda şekillenen gayrimüslim ve yabancı kadını imgesiyle ilgili önemli veriler sunan eserleriyle Ahmet Midhat Efendi, bu alanda da üzerinde hassasiyetle durulması gereken bir yazardır. Ahmet Midhat Efendi’nin eserleri ve fikirleri değerlendirilirken on dokuzuncu asır Osmanlı toplumu içinde kadının konumuna dair veri kaynaklarından yararlanılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda yazarın kendi döneminde kadın meselesine nasıl yaklaştığını ve kadınlarla ilgili meselelerin tartışılması noktasında nasıl bir konumda bulunduğunu tespit etmeye çalışmak amaçlanmaktadır. Ayrıca yazarın ortaya koyduğu kadın imgelerini araştırmak adına feminist edebiyat eleştirisinin sunduğu görüşlere de başvurmaya çalışılmıştır. Kadınları ilgilendiren meseleler geniş bir çerçeveye yayılmakta olduğundan ve diğer disiplinlerle etkileşim hâlinde çalışmayı gerektirdiğinden farklı yöntem ve yaklaşımlara başvurulması ihtiyacı doğmaktadır.

This study, which we have prepared by considering all the fictional and intellectual works of Ahmet Efendi, focuses on the author’s attitude about the issue of women and explores this issue with various aspects. The heroine represented by author at his fictional works and author’s opinion about women constitute the basis of our work. Constructing heroine in line with gender roles and the moral values of the society, the writer presents them in clear contrast in this regard. Therefore, the image of the idealized woman and image of the contradictory woman created by the author becomes a noticeable point in the his world of fiction. The author, who initially discuss the situation of women in institutions of the education and family in his works, also represents the woman with her religious, socioeconomic, political, and legal aspects. In many of his works, he evaluates the life of women in public sphere and private sphere. Ahmet Midhat Efendi who his works that provide important data about the image of non-Muslim and foreign women, shaped according to the religious identity of the heroines, is a writer who needs to focus on in this field, too.While evaluating the works and ideas of Ahmet Midhat Efendi, we used the data sources about the position of women in the nineteenth-century Ottoman society. Accordingly, it is aimed to find out how the author approached the issue of women in his period and how he was positioned at the point of discussing the issues about women. Besides, to investigate the images of the woman put forward by the author, it was tried to apply to the opinions presented by feminist literary criticism. Since the issues that concern women are spread over a wide range and require interaction with other disciplines, there is a need to apply different methods and approaches.
