dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between internet addiction and problem solving skills of high school students (9th and 10th grade) in terms of several variables (sex, age, school, economic level, and internet intended purpose and internet exposure time). Research sample is composed of 400 high school students (9th and 10th grade / 197 girls and 203 boys) chosen from 1 Anatolian High School, 1 General High School and 1 Vocational High School which are located in Ümraniye district in İstanbul by quota sampling method of random sampling method. In this research, “Internet Addiction Scale” is used which is translated by Bayraktar (2001) and originally developed by Young (1998). Also “Problem Solving Inventory” is used which is developed by Heppner and Peterson (1982). According to the results, there is positive relationship between high school students’ internet addiction and problem solving skills. Students’ internet addiction is differentiated to their sex, economic level, internet intended purpose and exposure time. © 2016, Ankara University. All rights reserved.
