Türkiye’de yaşayan Afrikalılar’ın Türk medyasında temsili : “kayıp şehir” dizisinde Afrikalılar

Abstract

“Türkiye’de Yaşayan Afrikalılar’ın Türk Medyasında Temsili: ‘Kayıp Şehir’Dizisinde Afrikalılar” isimli bu kamet eden Sahra-altıAfrikalılar’ın Türk medyasındaki temsillerini ele almaktadır. Afrikalılar’ın Türkmedyasındaki temsilleri; televizyon haberlerinde temsil, televizyon dizilerinde temsil ve yazılıbasında temsil olmak üzere sınırlandırılmış ve bu çerçeve ile sınırlandırılan temsillerden bazıörneklere yer verilmiştir.Tezin son bölümünde örneklem olarak Kayıp Şehir dizisi seçilmiş, dizinin 26 bölümüincelenmiş ve bu bölümleri çözümlemek için Söylem Analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır.Tezde bu konunun seçilmesinin nedeni, çok kültürlü bir yapıya sahip olan Türkiyetoplumunun uzun yıllardır bir parçası olan Sahra-altı Afrikalı göçmenlerin Türk medyasındakitemsillerinin sorunlu olduğunun düşünülmesi, bu soruna dikkat çekme isteği ve ayrıca bukonuda pek fazla akademik çalışmanın yapılmamış olmasıdır.Tezin ilk bölümünde genel anlamda medyada temsil konusu irdelenmiş, medyadatemsilin türlerine, etkilerine ve medyada kullanılan temsillerin yaratabileceği durumlara yerverilerek konunun kurumsal ve kavramsal çerçevesi çizilmiş ve ayrıca Türk medyasındanAfrikalılar’ın temsillerine dair bazı örnekler verilmiştir.İkinci bölümde temsil edilen Afrikalı göçmenlerin göç sebeplerine, göç biçimlerine vegöçün tarihsel gelişimine odaklanılmıştır. Ayrıca Afrikalı göçmenlerin Türkiye’ye göçettikten sonraki sosyal, ekonomik, hukuksal durumlarına yönelik yapılan literatürçalışmalarından istifade edilerek yaşadıkları sorunlar üzerinde durulmuştur.Üçüncü bölümde öncelikle yöntem olarak kullanılan Söylem Analizi açıklanmış,konunun anlamı, önemi, hitoptezleri gibi temel noktaların ardından Kayıp Şehir dizisindeAfrikalılar’ın temsili detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Söylem analizi yöntemi olarak EleştirelSöylem Analizi kullanılmış ve dizinin incelemesinden elde edilen veriler analiz edilerekeleştirel perspektiften inşa edilen söylemler yorumlanmıştır. Sonuç ve bulgular kısmındaKayıp Şehir dizisinde Afrikalılar’ın temsiline dair olumlu ve olumsuz söylemler, temalar vetemsiller belirtilmiştir. 4Bu tez çalışması ile Afrikalı göçmenlerin Türkiye’deki televizyon dizilerinde temsildüzeyindeki sorunlarına dikkat çekmek ve farkındalık yaratmak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın bukonuda yapılacak yeni çalışmalara esin vermesi dileğiyle.

“Africans Living in Turkey in the Turkish Media: Representation of Africans in theTelevision series ‘Lost City' ” is this master thesis, the sub-Saharan African citizens residingin Turkey, to address the representation in the Turkish media. Africans in Turkish media; islimited to their enactment in television news, in television series and print media. Someexamples of representations limited by this framework are included and given some examplesfrom the Turkish media.İn the last chapter of thesis, Lost City series that consisted of 26 episodes is analyzedby using the Discourse Analysis method.The purpose of choosing this thesis is thought of that a multicultural society in Turkey,having the structure of a long piece of sub-Saharan African immigrants, who for yearsrepresented in the Turkish media is problematic. In addition, the lack of academic studies inthis problematic area has been a reason for writing this thesis. These are the reasons to bewished pointed out this subject. In the first part of the thesis, in general terms, the issue of representation in the media hasbeen examined. The institutional and conceptual framework of the issue has been drawn byincluding the types of media, their effects, and the situations that can be created in the media,some examples of this are from the Turkish media.The second part focuses on the causes of immigration, migration patterns andhistorical development of the represented African immigrants. African immigrants emigratedto Turkey after the addition of social, economic and legal status. Studies were made to focuson the problems faced by the exploitation.In the third part, firstly Discourse Analysis is used as a method is explained, meaningof the subject, point of the subject, and hypothesis are explained and then the representation ofAfricans in the Lost City series is examined in detail. Critical Discourse Analysis was used asthe method of Discourse Analysis and the data from the series were analyzed and the 5discourses constructed from a critical perspective were interpreted. In the conclusion andfindings section, positive and negative discourses, themes and presentment about the portrayalof Africans are mentioned in the Lost City series.Within this thesis, it is aimed to draw attention and awareness to the problems of Africanimmigrants at the representation of Turkish television series. At the same time, it is hoped tocontribute to new studies on this subject.
