Enderun Mektebi’ndeki matematik öğretiminin Miftâhü'l-hisâb ışığında incelenmesi ve örnek uygulamalarla değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Enderun Mektebi’ndeki Matematik Öğretimi’nin incelenmesi ve örnek uygulamalarla değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapılmış olan bu araştırma “eser inceleme” ve “uygulama” olmak üzere iki aşamadan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın birinci aşamasında Enderun Mektebi’nde matematik ders kitabı olarak kullanıldığı tespit edilen Gıyâseddin Cemşîd tarafından 15. yy’da Arapça olarak yazılmış Miftâhü’l-Hisâb adlı eser ve Miftâhü’l-Hisâb’ın Osmanlı Türkçesi’ne yapılmış 3 tercemesi derinlemesine incelenmiştir. Bu 3 eserden Ahmet Tevhîd Efendi’nin Nuhbat el-Hisâb’ı orijinal eserin hesap kısmının bir tercümesi; İbrâhim Kâmi’nin Maftûh’u geometri kısmının bir tercümesi ve son olarak Câbizâde Halil Fâiz’in El-Salvat el- Cebriyye’si cebir kısmının bir tercümesidir. Söz konusu eserler, matematik terimlerinde herhangi bir değişikliğe gidilmeden serbest olarak sadeleştirilmişlerdir. Elde edilen bulgular matematiksel sembollerle, tablolaştırılarak, mümkün olan bölümlerde harfli ifadelere dönüştürülerek ve günümüz öğretimi ile kıyaslanıp yorumlanarak sunulmuştur. Araştırmanın ikinci aşamasında eserde karşılaşılan cebirsel ifadelerle işlemler yapılırken kullanılan tablo yönteminin, öğrencilerin cebirsel ifadelerle işlem yapma becerisine etkisini araştırmak ve yine eserde dikkat çeken tâk çiziminden hareketle görselleme becerisinin önemini vurgulamak amacıyla öğrenci ve öğretmenler üzerinde görüşlerinin de alındığı uygulamalar yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda Enderun Mektebi’nde okutulan Miftâhü’l-Hisâb adlı eser tamamen incelenmiş, yorumlanmış, değerlendirilmiştir.

This study was carried out in order to examine Mathematics Teaching in the Special School in the Ottoman Palace and to evaluate it with sample applications. It consists of two phases; work examination and practice. In the first stage of the research, the work of Gıyâsettin Cemşît named Miftâhü’l-Hisâb which was written in Arabic in 15th century, discovered to have been used as a mathematics course book in the Special School in the Ottoman Palace and its 3 translations in Ottoman Turkish, has been examined thoroughly. Of these 3 works, Ahmet Tevhid Efendi's Nuhbat al-Hisahb is a translation of the calculus part; Ibrahim Kami's Maftûh is a translation of the geometry part, and finally Câbizâde Halil Faiz's al-Salvat al-Jabriyye is a translation of the algebra part of the original work. These works were freely simplified in terms of mathematics without any changes being made. The findings were presented as tabulated with mathematical symbols, possible parts of the texts were translated into alphabetical expressions and presented as an interpretations in comparison with today's teaching. In order to investigate the effect of the table method used while processing the algebraic expressions that is encountered in the work in the second stage of the research on students’ ability to process with algebraic expressions and to emphasize the importance of the visualization skill by tâk drawing which is a riveting subject in the work, applications that also include students and teachers opinions has been done. As a result of his research, the work named Miftâhü'l-Hisâb, which was taught at the Special School in the Ottoman Palace, was thoroughly examined, interpreted and evaluated.
