Total protez hastalarında çiğneme etkinliğinin değerlendirilmesi ( Pilot çalışma )

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı total protez kullanan bireylerin çiğneme etkinliklerinin değerlendirilmesidir.Total protez kullanan 5 hastanın eski protezleri, yeni yapılan protezlerine protez adezivi, doku düzenleyici materyali ve uzun süreli astar materyali uygulanarak şekerli çikletler kullanmak sureti ile çiğneme etkinliği değerlendirildi. Çikletler 0,0001 hassaslığındaki hassas terazi ile 20 çiğneme siklusundan önce ve sonra tartıldı. Çiğneme sikluslarından sonra çiğneme sırasında eriyen şeker miktarı hesaplandı. Sonuç olarak protez adezivi ve doku düzenleyici materyal kullanan total protez hastalarının çiğneme etkinliklerinin en yüksek, eski total protezlerini kullanan hastaların çiğneme etkinliklerinin ise en düşük olduğu görüldü

The aim of this study was to evaluate the chewing efficiency of complete denture wearers. Five edentulous patient's chewing efficiency is measured when using previous denture, new denture, new denture with denture adhesive, new denture with tissue conditioner, new denture with long term soft lining material. A piece of chewing gum is used for the efficiency test. Chewing gums were weighted before and after 20 chewing cycles. After chewing the quantity of sugar which was dissolved during chewing per test was calculated Results of this study showed that the patients who were wearing complete dentures with denture adhesives and with tissue conditioners have the highest chewing efficiency whereas the lowest chewing efficiency was found when patients had been chewing with previous denture.
