Abstract

Sosyal yaşamın en önemli alanlarından biri olan eğitim değişen şartlara ayak uydurma çabası içerisinde değişim ve değişiklikler göstermektedir. Eğitim bir ülkenin geleceğinin şekillenmesi bakımından çok büyük bir önem taşımaktadır. Bu noktada önemli olan, eğitimde etkili unsurların keşfedilmesi ve uygulanmasıdır. Eğitimde en önemli unsurlardan biri olan öğretmen, eğitimin niteliğini, ülkenin ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel alanlarındaki gelişimini etkileyecek çok önemli bir güce sahiptir. Öğretmenin niteliği ve günün şartlarına uygun bir eğitim verebilmesi, ülkelerin içinde bulundukları ekonomik durum ile de yakından ilgilidir. Özellikle öğretmenlerin ekonomik durumlarının zayıflığı, performanslarını da olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir. Bu tezde ülkemizde çalışmakta olan öğretmenlerin içinde bulundukları ekonomik ve sosyal durumu, ülkemizdeki eğitim alanındaki çalışmaları ve mevcut durumu, Avrupa ve diğer kıtalardaki ülkelerle karşılaştırılarak ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır.

Education, one of the most important domains of social life, has been developing and evolving in an effort to adapt to the rapidly changing circumstances. Needless to say, education holds an extremely important place in the formation of a country's future. At this point, what is of utmost importance is the identification and activation of the factors influential in education. Teachers, who are one of the essential elements of education, have an ultimately significant capacity to influence the economic, social, and cultural development of a country. The quality of a teacher and his or her ability to teach in a way suitable to the needs and circumstances of the contemporary age are also closely related to the economic situation of a country. Moreover, especially teachers' weak economic status influences their performance negatively. This thesis is a comparative study that examines the economic and social conditions of the teachers, educational activities, and current educational situation in Turkey and compares all of these with the corresponding variables in the European0Xcountries and those on other continents.
