Publication: Haber söyleminde islamofobinin üretimi Yeni Zelanda örneği
Abstract
Günümüzde küresel çapta görünür bir fenomen olarak karşımıza çıkan İslamofobi,İslam’a ve Müslümanlara yönelik ön yargıya ve ayrımcılığa dayalı korku, endişe ve nefretiifade etmektedir.Köklü bir geçmişi olan İslamofobi terimi, ABD’deki 11 Eylül saldırılarından sonraİslam’ı ötekileştiren paradigma ekseninde Müslümanları hedef alan eylemlerle yenidengündeme gelmiştir.Bu süreçte İslam’ın ve Müslümanların terörizm ile ilişkilendirilmesinde ve İslamofobiiçerikli söylemin üretilip yaygınlaştırılmasında medya önemli roller üstlenmiştir. Buçalışmada, 11 Eylül’den bu yana en kanlı İslamofobik terör saldırısına sahne olan YeniZelanda’da, İslam’ın ve Müslümanların haber söyleminde nasıl temsil edildiği, İslamofobiiçerikli söylemin hangi kodlarla üretildiği incelenmektedir.Bunun için ülkenin yüksek tirajlı üç gazetesinde bir hafta içerisinde yayınlanan 21 haberamaçlı örneklem yoluyla seçilerek Teun van Dijk’in Eleştirel Söylem Analizine göreçözümlenmiştir. Yapılan inceleme sonucunda, ülkedeki siyasi otoritenin ılımlı politikalarınarağmen Yeni Zelanda basınında İslamofobi içerikli söylemin haber anlatısı içerisinde bellikodlar üzerinden üretildiği tespit edilmiştir.Haber söyleminde İslamofobinin üretimini Türkiye’de ilk kez Yeni Zelanda basını örneğiüzerinden inceleyen bu çalışma literatüre mütevazı bir katkı sunmayı hedeflemektedir.
Today, Islamophobia, as a visible phenomenon on the global scale, expresses hatred,anxiety and fear based on prejudice and discrimination against Islam and Muslims.The term Islamophobia, which has a long-standing background, came to the fore withactions targeting Muslims in the paradigm axis that marginalized Islam after the September11 attacks in the USA. In this process, media played an important role in associating Islamand Muslims with terrorism and producing and disseminating Islamophobic discourse.In this study, it is examined how Islam and Muslims are represented in the news discourseand by the which codes the Islamophobic discourse are produced in the newspapers of NewZealand, which has witnessed the bloodiest Islamophobic terrorist attack since September 11.For this purpose, 21 news articles published in three high circulation newspapers of thecountry were selected and analyzed according to Van Dijk's Critical Discourse AnalysisModel.As a result of the examination it was determined that Islamophobic discourse in the NewZealand press was produced through certain codes in the news narrative despite the moderatepolicies of the country's political authority,This study examining the production of Islamophobic rhetoric in the news of the NewZealand press , which is the first in Turkey, aims to provide a modest contribution to theliterature.
