Publication: Alemin mükemmelliği ve Tanrı'nın özgürlüğü arasında Gazzâlî'nin teodisesi
Abstract
Çalışmamızda Gazzâlî’nin içinde bulunduğumuz âlemin mümkün en iyi âlem olduğuna dair tezinin Tanrı’nın özgürlüğünü kısıtladığı iddiası ele alınmakta olup Gazzâlî’nin bu çelişkiye yönelik muhtemel cevabı incelenmektedir. Çalışmamız bir giriş ve iki ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Girişte, Gazzâlî’nin entelektüel hayatı kısaca sunulmaktadır. Birinci bölümde Gazzâlî’nin oluşturduğu ‘mümkün âlemlerin en iyisi’ teodisesi ve bu teodisenin inşa edildiği temeller irdelenmektedir. İkinci bölümde öncelikle Gazzâlî’nin Tanrı tasavvuru ortaya konulmakta daha sonra ‘mümkün âlemlerin en iyisi’ teodisesi ile arasında ortaya çıkan Tanrı’nın özgürlüğü problemi incelenmektedir. Tanrı’nın özgürlüğü problemi ele alınırken öncelikle modern din felsefesinde bu meselenin nasıl tartışıldığı incelenmekte, ardından Gazzâlî’nin düşünce sisteminde oluşturduğu çelişki ortaya konulmaktadır. Daha sonra bu çelişkiye yönelik bir çözüm önerisi olarak Gazzâlî’nin modalite anlayışı tartışılmaktadır. Çalışmamızın sonucunda Gazzâlî’nin kendi sistemi içerisinde Tanrı’nın yetkin sıfatlara sahip olduğu ve dolayısıyla âlemin en iyi şekilde yaratıldığı iddiası ile Tanrı’nın özgür olduğunun savunulmasının tutarsız olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, Gazzâlî’nin ‘mümkün âlemlerin en iyisi’ teodisesini Eş’arî kaygılarla birlikte ilahi buyruk teorisine uygun bir şekilde savunmasının başarısızlığına dikkat çekilmektedir.
Our study deals with al-Ghazâlî's thesis that the present world is the best possible, which restricts God's freedom, and analyzes al-Ghazâlî's potential response to this contradiction. Our study consists of an introduction and two main chapters. The inauguration is about al-Ghazâlî's intellectual life. Al-Ghazâlî's theodicy of the best possible world and the foundations on which this theodicy is built are analyzed in the first part. In the second part, al-Ghazâlî's conception of God and the problem of God's freedom which arises between his theodicy of the best possible world will be examined. While discussing the problem of God's freedom, first of all, how this issue is debated within the modern philosophy of religion is examined furthermore the contradiction it creates within al-Ghazâlî's system of thought is revealed. As a solution to this contradiction, al-Ghazâlî's understanding of modality will be discussed. At the end of the study, it's concluded that al-Ghazâlî's claim that God possesses perfect attributes and therefore created the universe in the best way, and his claim that God is free are inconsistent within his system. In this context, the failure of al-Ghazâlî to defend the best of all possible worlds theodicy correspondingly with the theory of divine command with Ash'ari concerns, has been pointed out.
