Publication: Ebeveyn ve çocuklara uygulanan bedenim güvende programının çocukların kendilerini koruma becerisine etkisi
Abstract
Objective: With the My Body is Safe Program applied to parents and children, it is aimed to improve children's self-protection skills. Material and methods: The study, which was carried out in the pretest posttest randomized controlled experimental type, was carried out between March-May 2022 with 70 preschool children and their parents studying in two schools in Tuzla, Istanbul. Research data were collected using the Parent and Child Information Form and If This Is The Case Test. After the pretest applied to the experimental and control groups, the Experimental group was given six sessions of 20 minutes, My Body is Safe Program. No intervention was made in the control group. To evaluate the effectiveness of the program, the posttest was taken at the end of the sixth session, and the follow-up test was taken two months after the application. Descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U test, Friedman test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test and Chi-square test were used in the analysis of the data. Significance in statistics was accepted as p<0.05. Results: The mean age of the children aged 4-6 years participating in the study was 5.58±0.52, and 54.3% of the children were girls. 57.1% of the children were not informed about sexual abuse. After the program, it was determined that the experimental group's all sub-dimension scores of the If This Is The Case Test increased significantly (p<0.05). No significant change was observed in the control group (p>0.05). Conclusion: My Body is Safe Program is an effective program in improving children's self-protection skills. It is recommended that nurse-led physical safety trainings be expanded and added to the curriculum in the pre-school period.
