Abstract

OSMANLI’DA KADIN HAREKETİ, GELENEK VE DİN “Osmanlı’da Kadın Hareketi, Gelenek ve Din” başlıklı bu çalışmada Osmanlı İmparatorluğunda ondokuzuncu yüzyılda başlayıp Cumhuriyet’in kuruluşuna kadar geçen süreçte kadınların medeni, iktisadi, toplumsal ve siyasal alanlarda erkeklerle eşit haklara sahip olmalarını amaçlayan düşünce, talep ve eylemleri kapsayan Osmanlı Kadın Hareketi’nin din ve geleneğe dair tasavvurları, yorumları, eleştiri ve önerileri; ülke içi ve dışındaki farklı fikri ve siyasi akımlarla ilişkisi eşliğinde ve makale, roman, anı, biyografi gibi kaynaklar üzerinden incelenmiştir. Araştırmamızın ilk bölümünde genel olarak kadın hareketleri ve din ilişkisini, ikinci bölümünde Osmanlı toplumsal ve hukuki yapısında kadının yeri ve yenileşme hareketleriyle birlikte oluşan gelişmeleri, üçüncü bölümünde Osmanlı İslamcı Hareketi’nin kadın hareketine bakışı ve eleştirilerini ve son bölümde de Osmanlı Kadın Hareketi içindeki hürriyetçi kadın ve erkek yazarların din ve geleneğe bakışını ele aldık ve Osmanlı kadın hareketinin din ve geleneğe dair yeni okuma biçimini ve geleneksel yorumlara yönelik eleştirilerini ortaya koyduk.

WOMEN’S MOVEMENT, TRADITION AND RELIGION IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE In this study titled with “Women’s Movement, Tradition and Religion in the Ottoman Empire” I have studied Ottoman Women’s Movement including the ideas, demands and actions aimed at women’s equal rights with men in civil, economic, social and political fields in the period from the nineteenth century to the establishment of the Republic and examined its views, comments, criticisms and suggestions on religious and traditional thoughts and perceptions in relation to different ideas and political movements in and out of the country and through sources such as articles, novels, memoirs, and biographies. In the first part of my research I have discussed the relationship between women’s movements and religion in general. I have discussed the place of women in the Ottoman social and legal structure and the developments with the innovation movements in the second part of our research, the Ottoman Islamist Movement's view and criticisms of the women's movement in the third part and lastly I have discussed the perspectives of liberal men and women writers on religion and tradition within the Ottoman Women's Movement and presented the Ottoman women's movement's new way of reading on religion and tradition and their criticism of traditional interpretations.
