Abstract
Harita okuryazarlığına ilişkin mevcut durumu betimlemeyi amaçlayan bu çalışmada, haritanın tanımı, kullanımı ve
okunmasına yönelik ilgili literatür taranarak sosyal bilgiler dersi öğretim programındaki ilgili kazanımlar tahlil edilmeye
çalışılmıştır. Nitel araştırma deseni ile yürütülen çalışmanın verileri doküman incelemesi ve literatür taraması ile elde
edilmiştir. Doküman incelemesi (sosyal bilgiler dersi öğretim programı) sonucunda harita okuryazarlığı ile ilişkili 10 alt
beceri tespit edilmiş ve bu beceriler ilgili literatür ile betimlenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda harita okuryazarlığı;
coğrafi konumu belirleme, yön tespiti, harita çeşitlerini ve haritalama yöntemlerini bilme, projeksiyonu tespit, haritanın
lejantını okuyabilme, haritanın ölçeğini okuyabilme, haritadaki ve arazideki uzaklıkları ve eğimi hesaplayabilme, haritada
ve arazide yeryüzü şekillerini belirleyebilme, izdüşüm ve gerçek alanı ilişkilendirme, dijital haritaları hazırlama ve okuma
kategorilerinde örnekler verilerek değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur.
This study aims to describe the current situation regarding map literacy in the social studies curriculum. The relevant literature on the definition, use, and reading of the map was reviewed and the relevant learning outcomes in the social studies curriculum were analyzed. The data for the study, which was conducted with a qualitative research design, were obtained through document analysis and a literature review. As a result of the document review (social studies curriculum), 10 sub-skills related to map literacy were identified and these skills were described with the relevant literature. In line with the data obtained, map literacy includes determining geographical location, determining direction, knowing map types and mapping methods, determining the projection, reading the legend of the map, reading the scale of the map, calculating distances and slopes on the map and land, determining landforms on the map and land, associating projection and real area, preparing and reading digital maps.
