ÖZET ÖZEL HASTANELERDE ETKİNLİĞİN ve VERİMLİLİĞİN ARTTIRILMASINDA FAALİYET DENETİMİNİN ROLÜ ve UYGULANABİLİRLİĞİ Faaliyet denetimi, işletmenin faaliyetlerinin etkililiğini ve etkinliğini değerlendiren sistematik bir süreçtir. Faaliyet denetimi ayrıca; gelişme fırsatlarını tanımlamayı ve özel tavsiyelerde bulunmayı amaçlayan bir denetim türüdür. Uygulanması diğer denetim türlerine göre daha zor ve maliyetli olan faaliyet denetimi özel hastanelerde son yıllarda yaygın olarak kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada; özel hastanelerde etkinliğin ve etkililiğin arttırılmasında faaliyet denetiminin rolü ve uygulanabilirliğinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. İstanbul ili sınırları içinde faaliyet gösteren otuz bir özel hastanede bir anket uygulaması gerçekleştirilerek elde edilen veriler istatistiksel değerlendirmelere tabi tutulmuş ve bulgular mukayeseli olarak irdelenmiştir. Araştırma bulgularında uygulama sürecinde tespit edilen eksikliklere rağmen faaliyet denetiminin özel hastanelerde etkinliğin ve etkililiğin arttırılmasında kullanılan önemli bir araç olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. vate Hospitals, Operational Audit, Efficiency, Effectiveness, Operational Audit Process At Private Hospitals

THE ROLE AND THE PRACTICABILITY OF OPERATİONAL AUDITING IN IMPROVING EFFECTIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY IN PRIVATE HOSPITALS Operational auditing is a systematic process which evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of operational activities. Operational auditing is also a type of audit, that aims to describe the opportunities of the progress and make special recommendations. This type of audit, the application of which is harder and more costly than other ones, has begun to be used more commonly in private hospitals recently. In this study, the goal is to investigate the role and feasibility of operational audit in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency in private hospitals. A poll was conducted in thirty one private hospitals in İstanbul and data which was obtained from this survey were subjected to statistical evaluation and the findings were studied comparatively. It has been manifested in the findings of research that operational audit is an important means of improving effectiveness and efficiency in private hospitals inspite of the deficiencies that have been determined in the process of implementation.
