S., Uzunoglu B., Tastan G., ERGENEKON A. P., GÖKDEMİR Y., ERDEM ERALP E., et al.Background: We aimed to investigate the effect of the use of electronic home spirometry in children with cystic fibrosis (CF) on 1-year FEV1 (% predicted, pp) change. Methods: This is a randomised, one-year prospective study including children with CF between 6 and 18 years of age. Subjects were randomised into home spirometry group (HSG) and usual care group (UCG). Children in HSG performed two pulmonary function tests (PFT) per week. Data regarding acute pulmonary exacerbations (PEx) was obtained from patients’ records. At baseline and 12th month, health related quality of life questionnaire for CF patients (CFQ-R) and lung clearance index (LCI) were performed. Results: Sixty children were recruited with a median (IQR) age of 13.3 (11.4–15.4) years. Absolute change in FEV1pp from baseline to 12th month as median (IQR) was +1% (-6.75–9.75) in HSG and -2.50% (-7.50–3.25) in UCG (p = 0.10). Sensitivity analysis including only adherent children in HSG (n = 22), yielded an increase of 5% (-3.50–12) in HSG and a decrease of 2.50% (-7.50–3.25) in UCG (p = 0.009). A total of 29 (96.7%) subjects in HSG and 23 (76.7%) in UCG had PEx (p = 0.05). Absolute change in median (IQR) LCI2.5 from baseline to the 12th month was -1.6 [-2.9–0] (p<0.001) in HSG and -1.5 [-2.8-(-0.6)] (p<0.001) in UCG (p = 0.94). There was a significant increase in the social domain of the CFQ-R in HSG (from 59.1 to 76.2, p = 0.01). Conclusions: Electronic home monitoring of children with CF by spirometry may result in improvement in lung function.Publication Open Access The importance of cooperation between vocational schools and industry(2009) ÇINAR, AYŞE; İşgören, Nuriye Çevik; Çınar, Ayşe; Tektaş, Necla; Oral, Bekir; Büyükpehlivan, Gülhan; Ulusman, Leyla; Öznaz, Demet; Polat, Zuhal; Uzmanoğlu, SelçukPublication Open Access Evaluation of educational and technical structure at vocational schools(ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV, 2010) ÇINAR, AYŞE; Uzmanoglu, Selcuk; Isgoren, Nuriye Cevik; Cinar, Ayse; Tektas, Necla; Oral, Bekir; Buyukpehlivan, Gulhan; Ulusman, Leyla; Oznaz, Demet; Polat, Zuhal; Uzunboylu, HIn Turkey, vocational schools are one of the most important educational institutions for breeding well-qualified manpower in higher education level. At present time, the main purpose of these institutions that provide vocational training in accordance with two-year education programs is: to provide the breeding of of well-qualified manpower who may be able to adapt to scientific and technological developments and provide quality production that needed by business life. In the process of training the students of vocational school in accordance with these qualifications, educational partnerships that are established with the collaboration of both university and industry have become very important. In order to substantiate the necassary cooperation in this partnership Marmara University Vocational School of Technical Sciences has started a project. In this project work, within the inclusion of students, industry and academic staff, three surveys have been conducted in order to collect data. The survey applications that have been carried out included, firstly, the thoughts of the vocational school's students about the education provided in Vocational School of Technical Sciences (T.B.M.Y.O); secondly, their thought of the sector's cooperation with vocational schools and the evaluation of the graduates performances. Thirdly, another survey regarding the adequacy of the training fields and the students of the vocational schools was conducted and it's reviews have been addressed. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Tatlı su balıklarından en çok tercih edilen tür alabalık (%75,22) iken, deniz balıklarında hamsi olduğu (%48,57) görülmüştür. Katılımcıların %21,98’i balıketi, %18,73’ütavuk eti, %17,62’si dana eti, %13,52’si kaz eti, %13,34’ü koyun eti, %6,67’si keçi eti, %4,19’uhindi eti tüketirken, sadece %1,71’i ise midye, karides gibi su canlılarını tercih etmektedirler. Publication Open Access Internship education analysis of vocational school students(ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV, 2010) ÇINAR, AYŞE; Polat, Zuhal; Uzmanoglu, Selcuk; Isgoren, Nuriye Cevik; Cinar, Ayse; Tektas, Necla; Oral, Bekir; Buyukpehlivan, Gulhan; Ulusman, Leyla; Oznaz, Demet; Uzunboylu, HThe main purpose of vocational and technical education is to make the individuals gain; knowledge, ability, and practice sufficiency which are needed for particular occupation.
