Publication Open Access Reliability and validity of the turkish version of work readiness scale for graduate nurses among senior nursing students(2022-12-01) ERGÜN, AYŞE; BEYHAN A., ERGÜN A.Objective: This study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the work readiness scale for graduate nurses among senior-class Turkish nursing students. Methods: This is a study of methodological design. A method of translation—back translation, pilot testing, and exploring content validity through a review of 10 raters—was used to create the Turkish version of the work readiness scale. The work readiness scale for graduate nurses was applied to 1008 senior nursing students enrolled in 15 universities in Turkey. Demo version of SPSS 28 and Lisrel 9.2 for Windows was used for statistical analysis. Reliability was evaluated with Cronbach’s alpha, and the scale’s factor construct was explored with confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The content validity index of the scale was found to be 0.97. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the general fit coefficients related to a 4-factor model were acceptable. The convergent and discriminant validity results obtained from factor loadings were largely supported . The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.93. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the work readiness scale for graduate nurses was found to be valid and reliable and can be used in the Turkish population to assess work readiness.Publication Open Access Bergen insomnia scale for adults: The psychometric features of the Turkish version(2023-03-01) ERGÜN, AYŞE; Kula T. B., Yalcin I., ERGÜN A.Objective: Insomnia is an important health problem affecting physical, spiritual and social well-being of individuals negatively and it should be early diagnosed as well. The purpose is to appraise the psychometric features of the Turkish version of the Bergen Insomnia Scale (BIS) for adults. Methods: A total of 495 adults were included in the methodological study in Turkey. Turkish form of BIS was designed within the scope of study conducted in adolescent sample. Construct validity was appraised with exploratory, confirmatory factor analysis, convergent and discriminant validity. Internal-consistency and test-retest analysis were used for reliability. Results: According to results of explanatory, confirmatory factor analysis; it was identified that BIS showed a two-factor structure as daytime symptoms (a=.85) and nocturnal symptoms (a=.80). Item-total correlations were found as >=.59 and test-retest correlation as .83.Conclusions: The Turkish version of the Bergen Insomnia Scale for adults was assessed as valid and reliable.Publication Open Access Validity and Reliability of Sun Protection Behavior Scale among Turkish Adolescent Population(ELSEVIER SCIENCE INC, 2015-09) ERGÜN, AYŞE; Aygun, Ozcan; Ergun, AysePurpose: The aim of this research was to adapt the Sun Protection Behavior Scale (SPBS) to Turkish and to perform validity and reliability analyses. Methods: The scale was administered to a total of 900 adolescents, the retest to 91 adolescents. The construct validity of the scale was evaluated using exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The EFA and CFA were applied to sample groups of 449 and 451 people, respectively. Results: The Cronbach alpha coefficients for the Turkish form of the SPBS (alpha = .74) and its sunscreen (alpha = .88) and hat use (alpha = .70) subscales were found to be >=.70 while the sun avoidance subscale was calculated to be .67. The item-total score correlation between the scale and its subscales was >=.26 and the test-retest correlations were found to be >=.51. The CFA results verified the 8-item, 3-factor Turkish version of the SPBS. The confirmatory factor loadings for the scale were .45-.80 for sun avoidance, .72-.93 for sunscreen use, and .66-.83 for hat use. In particular, SPBS and sunscreen use (p < .001) exhibited significantly high mean scores among girls and economically better backgrounds (p = .007, p < .001, respectively). In addition, SPBS (p = .004) and hat use (p < .001) revealed that the mean scores were significantly high in younger adolescents. Conclusions: The SPBS was found to be valid and reliable and its psychometric characteristics acceptable. The scale can be used to measure the behavior of Turkish adolescent populations with respect to sun protection. Copyright (C) 2015, Korean Society of Nursing Science. Published by Elsevier. There are difficulties in evaluating children's behavior in Turkish culture and therefore a valid and reliable measuring tool is needed for assessing behavioral problems in this age group. The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Behavior Assessment for Children (BAC). The study was conducted using the cross-sectional data collection method to examine the content validity, factor structure, measurement invariance, reliability of BAC based on data from 495 parents and 14 teachers. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was used for testing content validity. Reliability analysis was carried out with Cronbach's alpha, MacDonald's omega test, item total correlations, Spearman Brown's and Guttman's split-half reliability coefficients, percent agreement and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Construct validity was evaluated by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The measurement invariance was examined by multiple-group CFA. The CVI of the BAC was found to be .92. Three models were tested with CFA, and a 17-item, three-factor (attention, emotion, self-control) structure of the BAC was finally supported; this dimensional structure proved to be invariant across gender. Factor loadings varied between .56 and .83. Cronbach's alpha was .93; ICC was .60. Percent agreement varied between 41.6%-63.1%. It was determined that the BAC scale is a valid and reliable instrument that can be used to assess the behavioral problems of Turkish children. Its results can moreover contribute to the cross-cultural study of behavior problems and add to worldwide discussions.Publication Open Access Lise öğrencilerinin akılcı ilaç kullanımına yönelik bilgi ve davranışları(2022-01-01) ERGÜN, AYŞE; Arslan Ö., ERGÜN A.Amaç: Bu çalışma lise öğrencilerinin akılcı ilaç kullanımına yönelik bilgi ve davranışlarını incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
