COVID-19 salgınında Uzaktan Eğitim (UE) sırasında elektronik anket (E-anket) kullanılarak veriler toplanmıştır. E-anket, Derste Teknoloji Kullanımına Yönelik Eğilim Ölçeği’ni (DTKEÖ) ve UE’in mesleki gelişim üzerindeki etkilerine ilişkin soruları içermektedir. Publication Open Access Assessment of students anxiety level and technology readiness in a simulation-based obstetrics training(2023-01-01) ÇATAR, RAMAZAN ÖZGÜR; KİTAPÇI, OKAN CEM; ŞİŞMAN KİTAPÇI, NUR; DEMİRGÖZ BAL, MELTEM; MUMCU, GONCA; Ayyıldız S., ÇANDERELİ Z. They stated that there was a positive effect on "anxiety in the working environment" (93.3%) in posttraining. Since no significant differences were observed in scores of the Tendency Scale for the Use of Technology and STAI in pre-and post-training periods (p>0.05), it was thought that they were not potential barrier factors in the training. Conclusion: The ensuring of professional development was achieved by using simulation-based training in the study. However, technology readiness and anxiety levels were stable in pre-and post-training periodsPublication Open Access Comparison of the oral health-related quality of life and dental pain in symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and pericoronitis(ELSEVIER TAIWAN, 2012-09) MUMCU, GONCA; Cimilli, Hale; Karacayli, Umit; Sisman, Nur; Kartal, Nevin; Mumcu, GoncaBackground/purpose: The oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) reveals important information about a patient's perceptions in clinical practice, and pain is a critical point when evaluating OHRQoL in clinical practice. The aim of the study was to compare pain patterns by means of the Dental Pain-Screening Questionnaire (DePaQ) and an OHRQoL evaluation between symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and pericoronitis. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, 50 patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (with a female:male ratio of 22:28 and a mean age of 35.6 +/- 11.8 years) and 38 patients with pericoronitis (with a female:male ratio of 21:17 and a mean age of 26.3 +/- 9.08 years) were selected. In addition to a visual analogue scale (VAS, 0-100 mm), dental pain was evaluated by means of a Dental Pain Questionnaire (DePaQ). The Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) was used to examine the OHRQoL status. Results: Scores of the OHIP-14 and VAS were significantly higher in patients with irreversible pulpitis (29.9 +/- 11.8 and 91.80 +/- 10.03, respectively) compared to those suffering from pericoronitis (18.6 +/- 8.7 and 51.05 +/- 36.67, respectively; P < 0.001). According to the DePaQ, the presence of continuous pain, pain radiating to the surrounding area, pain when chewing or eating on the side of the mouth with the affected teeth, pain experienced as an electric shock, and difficulty sleeping were related to a poor OHIP-14 score in symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (33.5 +/- 10.57, 30.82 +/- 11.4, 30.30 +/- 11.55, 33.92 +/- 10.28, and 27.53 +/- 11.77, respectively) compared with those with pericoronitis (20.09 +/- 11.27, 20.37 +/- 7.85, 19.64 +/- 7.87, 20.56 +/- 9.69, and 19.88 +/- 7.9, respectively; P = 0.003, <0.001, <0.001, <0.001, and 0.005, respectively). VAS scores significantly differed between groups according to all DePaQ items (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The DePaQ gives detailed information about clinical conditions related to pain and the OHRQoL status in both symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and pericoronitis. VAS scores differed between the groups according to the DePaQ items. Copyright (c) 2012, Association for Dental Sciences of the Republic of China. Published by Elsevier Taiwan LLC. Ö., Arslan T., Özdamar Ö., Yay M., Karaçayli Ü., ŞİŞMAN KİTAPÇI N., Adesanya A., AKSOY A., Belem J. M. F. M., Taş M. N., et al.OBJECTIVES: The study aimed to identify the interactions among treatment protocols and oral ulcer activity related factors in patients with Behçet\"s syndrome (BS) using the Classification and Regression Tree (CART) algorithm. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, 979 patients with BS were included from16 centres in Turkey, Jordan, Brazil and the United Kingdom. In the CART algorithm, activities of oral ulcer (active vs. inactive), genital ulcer (active vs. inactive), cutaneous involvement (active vs. inactive), musculoskeletal involvement (active vs. inactive), gender (male vs. female), disease severity (mucocutaneous and musculoskeletal involvement vs. major organ involvement), smoking habits (current smoker vs. non-smoker), tooth brushing habits (irregular vs. regular), were input variables. The treatment protocols regarding immunosuppressive (IS) or non-IS medications were the target variable used to split from parent nodes to purer child nodes in the study. RESULTS: In mucocutaneous and musculoskeletal involvement (n=538), the ratio of IS use was higher in patients with irregular toothbrushing (ITB) habits (27.1%) than in patients with regular toothbrushing (RTB) habits (14.2%) in oral ulcer activity. In major organ involvement (n=441), male patients with ITB habits were more likely treated with IS medications compared to those with RTB habits (91.6% vs. 77.6%, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Male BS patients on IS who have major organ involvement and oral ulcer activity with mucocutaneous and musculoskeletal involvement have irregular toothbrushing habits. Improved oral hygiene practices should be considered to be an integral part for implementing patient empowerment strategies for BS.Publication Open Access The content of a dental mobile application for children from the perspectives of parents and pre-school teacher trainees(2023-02-01) KİTAPÇI, OKAN CEM; AKMANSOY, ŞÜKRÜ CAN; ŞİŞMAN KİTAPÇI, NUR; MUMCU, GONCA; Sarı F. The aim of this study was to develop a standardized composite index (CI) to assess oral ulcer activity in BD and RAS. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 121 patients with BD and 45 patients with RAS were included. Sixty-five percentage of BD and 68.9% of RAS patients were in active stage during the previous 3 months. The developed CI included the presence of oral ulcers, ulcer-related pain and functional status and was evaluated in patients with both active and inactive disease for content validity. Results: Composite index score was observed to be higher in active patients with RAS (6.94 +/- 2.19) compared with active BD patients (6.01 +/- 2.04) (P = 0.04). The number of oral ulcers and healing time of oral ulcers were significantly higher in RAS compared with BD (P = 0.018, P = 0.001 respectively). CI score correlated with the number of oral ulcers in both BD and RAS (P = 0.000, P = 0.002 respectively). CI score was '0' for inactive patients without oral ulcer in BD and RAS. Conclusions: The presented CI as an oral ulcer activity index seems to be a reliable and suitable tool for evaluating the clinical impact and disease-specific problems in BD and RAS.Publication Open Access Satisfaction with Distance Learning in the post-COVID Era as influenced by Learning Environment, Technological Glitches and Course Content in Undergraduate Dental Education(2022-04-01) MUMCU, GONCA; AKMANSOY, ŞÜKRÜ CAN; ŞİŞMAN KİTAPÇI, NUR; KİTAPÇI, OKAN CEM; MUMCU G., SIRMA N. S., AKMANSOY Ş. C., ÇANDERELİ Z. Ö., BEYHAN T. E., AKSOY B., ŞİŞMAN KİTAPÇI N., KİTAPÇI O. C., KARAÇAYLI Ü., YAY M., et al.Aim: This study aimed to evaluate learner satisfaction related to the components of Distance Learning (DL) by using mediation analysis in dental students. Methods: In this study, 608 dental students were included. Data were collected through the use of an online questionnaire. Results: In the multiple mediation analysis, the increase in “Satisfaction score with DL” was directly mediated by the Clinical students (p=0.0250) and indirectly mediated by the increase in the score of items concerning “Relating Theoretical Course to Clinical Practice” (p=0.0009)”, “Satisfaction with Course Content” (p=0.0000)” and “Comfortable learning environment” p=0.0000) in Clinical students whereas a poor score was associated with an elevated score of the item concerning “Technological glitches in live lectures” (p=0.0000)” in Preclinical students. Conclusions: Satisfaction with DL was associated with the students’ clinical experience as well as course content, the learning environment. Unsurprisingly technological glitches were associated with the overall experience of DL. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 170 PTs (F/M: 94/76, mean age:29.4 years) working in Istanbul. Data were collected through a questionnaire regarding scales of ‘‘Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology’’ and ‘‘Perception of Innovation’’. UTAUT has 5 components which are ‘‘Performance Expectancy’’ (PE), ‘‘Effort Expectancy’’ (EE), ‘‘Social Influence’’ (SI), ‘‘Facilitating Conditions’’ (FC), ‘‘Behavioral Intention’’ (BI). The model was modified by adding ‘‘Telerehabilitation Usage Behavior’’ and ‘‘Perception of Innovation’’ to these structures. After preliminary analyses, structural equation modelling was employed to assess relationships between key constructs and variables within the proposed model Results: The modified UTAUT model demonstrated a good fit for understanding the acceptance of telerehabilitation among physiotherapists, as indicated by favorable goodness-of-fit indices (SRMR = 0.03, GFI = 0.99, AGFI = 0.92, CFI = 0.97, and RMSEA = 0.00). This model accounted for 68% of the variance in ‘‘Behavioral Intention’’ to use telerehabilitation and 28% of the variance in ‘‘Telerehabilitation Usage Behavior’’. The results revealed that ‘‘Behavioral Intention” directly influenced ‘‘Telerehabilitation Usage Behavior’’ (β = 0.53) and ‘‘Social Influence’’ directly affected ‘‘Behavioral Intention’’ (β = 4.96). Additionally, the relationship between ‘‘Social Influence’’ and ‘‘Behavioral Intention’’ was found to vary with age (β =-5.81, p <0.05) when examining moderator variables. Conclusion: This study emphasized the need to bridge the intention-behavior gap and consider context-specific factors to develop strategies for integrating telerehabilitation into clinical practice.
