Abstract
While banks bring together economic units with surplus funds and economic units with shortfalls of funds, they receive a fee for the service they provide and earn income as a result. These incomes can be collected in two groups as interest income and non-interest income. Considering which factors affect the incomes of banks; It is known that in addition to internal reasons such as the efficiency of banks’ operational transactions, the volume and number of transactions, the number of customers, and the variety of transactions, macroeconomic variables such as money supply and changing interest rates also have a significant impact on revenues. The interest rate and the total money stock in the economy, which are the most important tools of the Central Banks followed by the banks, are also important for the banks to create their strategies. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the CBRT M2 money supply change and weighted average funding cost on non-interest income of banks. The scope of the study consists of Turkey’s leading 18 deposit banks. Panel data analysis method was used in the study in which the period between years 2011-2020 was examined. As a result, it has been determined that banks’ non-interest income ratio decreases with as the weighted average funding cost increases, and increases with the change in M2 money supply.
