KAMUSAL”DAN “ÖZEL”E Mİ? ÜNİVERSİTENİN TOPLUMSAL KONUMLANIŞI VE BİLİMSEL BİLGİ ÜRETİMİ

Abstract

Üniversite, tarihi boyunca içinde bulunduğu toplumsal güç ilişkilerince biçimlendirilmiştirÇeşitli tarihsel dönemlerdeki ekonomik, politik, kültürel ve toplumsal formasyonları kesenbir kurum olan üniversite, son otuz yıldır içinden geçtiğimiz neoliberal kapitalizm dönemindeönemli dönüşümler geçirmiştir. Neoliberalleşme süreciyle birlikte, üniversiteler devlet vepiyasayla yeni ilişki biçimleri geliştirmişlerdir. Bugün, üniversite yaşamı içinde yirmi yılönce kolay kolay kabullenilemeyecek uygulamalar normalleşmiş, gündelik yaşamımızınparçası haline gelmiştir. Elinizdeki yazıda, neoliberal kapitalizm dönemi içinde üniversiteningeçirdiği yapısal dönüşüm, bu dönüşümün itici güçleri ve mekanizmaları, aldığı biçimlerüzerinde durulacaktır. Çalışmanın bir başka amacı da, üniversitenin geçirdiği bu dönüşümdenyararlanarak üniversiteyi bütünsel bir sorgulamaya açmak ve insan, toplum ve doğa yararınabir üniversiteyi oluşturmak için, nostaljik yaklaşımlara düşmeden, üniversite-toplum ilişkisininsorunsallaştırılmasının gerekliliği üzerinde durmaktır.

Throughout its history, the university has been shaped by the social power relations in which it was situated. The university is an institution that has cut through different economic, political, cultural social formations. In the last three decades of neoliberal capitalism, it has undergone fundamental transformations that led to the formation of new relations with the state and the market. Certain practices we are experiencing in the universities today would have been unthinkable twenty years ago. This article will explore the structural transformation universities has gone through during the neoliberal period and the triggers and mechanisms of this transformation will be analyzed. It also seeks to initiate a comprehensive questioning of the society-university relations while trying to avoid a nostalgic approach.
