Modern Türk Felsefesi Tarihinde Öncü Bir İsim Emrullah Efendi ve "İlm-i Hikmet" Dersleri

Abstract

Modern felsefe ıstılahları ve kavram tartışmaları konusunda, Babanzâde Ahmet Naim Bey'in yanında, emek veren diğer bir felsefeci de Emrullah Efendi'dir. Maarif Nazırı olması, eğitimciliği ve ansiklopedi çalışması yanında modern felsefe ve bilim terimlerine Türkçe karşılıklar bulma konusundaki gayretleri, Darülfünunda felsefe dersi hocalığı yaptığı dönemde yazdığı yazılarda ve müesseseleşmesine destek verdiği Istılahat-i İlmiyye Encümeni'nde devam etmiştir. Bu araştırmada Emrullah Efendi'nin bu çalışmalarından bazıları Babanzade Ahmet Naim ile Salih Zeki'nin aynı konudaki teşebbüsleriyle karşılaştırılarak verilecek; akabinde "İlm-i Hikmet" adlı ders notlarının çevirimyazısı sunulacaktır.

In the case of modernization of the philosophical terms and discussions on concepts, beside Babanzade Ahmet Naim beg, we must cite another eminent philosopher, Emrullah Efendi as well. Emrullah Efendi was a versatile person: educationalist, minister of education, encyclopaedist, lecturer at Darülfünun (the University of Istanbul), a member of the Science Terminology Committee which he tried to move up into an institution; and above all, the renovator and modernizer of the Turkish philosophical terminology. His great efforts in this respect should be mentioned together with those of Babanzade Ahmet Naim and Salih Zeki. Here, subsequently we shall compare the terminology endeavours these three scholars had undertaken; and add to it the transcription of Emrullah Efendi's text of the courses in philosophy ("İlm-i Hikmet").
