Abstract
İsmail Zühdî Efendi, hat sanatı tarihi içerisinde Şeyh Hamdullah ve Hâfız Osman vadisinden beslenip 18. yy’dayetişmiş en önemli isimdir. Ordu’nun Ünye ilçesinde doğup küçük yaşta babası Mehmed Kaptan ile İstanbul’a gelen Zühdî Efendi, hıfzını tamamladıktan sonra Moralı Ahmed Hıfzî Efendi, Mehmed Emin Efendi ve Mehmed Şakir Mihallici gibi hocalardan rika’, sülüs ve nesih meşk ederek icazet almaya hak kazanmıştır. Üstün gayreti ve mahareti sayesinde Sultan III. Mustafa’nın dikkatini çekmiş ve saray kâtipliğinekadar yükselmiştir. Eserlerindeki yazıları düzeltme yapmadan kalemden çıktığı gibitashihsiz yazan Zühdî Efendi, bu tarzıyla tarih içerisinde eşsiz bir yere sahiptir. Yaşadığı süre içerisinde kırktan fazla Mushaf-ı Şerîf, amme cüzü, delâilü'l-hayrât ve müstakil cüzler yazan İsmail Zühdî Efendi'nin sülüs-nesih murakkâlar, kıt’alar, hilye-i şerîfler ve karalamaları da mevcuttur. Ayrıca celî üslüpta yazdığı birçok levha da müzeler ve özel koleksiyonları süslemektedir. Bunların içerisinde en çok dikkati çeken TSMK'nde GY-314/40(bkz. Resim 71)envanter numarasına kayıtlı leylek formundaki besmeledir.Bu örnekler dışında Eyüp Şah Sultan Türbesi, Safranbolu İzzetpaşaCamî, Şânîzâde Çeşmesi ve Nişancı Mehmed PaşaCamîhaziresindeki Hatice hanıma ait mezartaşı gibi taşa mahkûk kitâbeler de Zühdî Efendi tarafından yazılmış en önemli celî sülüs örneklerdir. Dönemin ileri gelenleri ve devlet adamlarınada hocalık yapan İsmail Zühdî Efendi'nin yetiştirdiği birçok talebesi mevcuttur. Bunların içerisinde hiç şüphesiz en önemlisi kardeşi Mustafa Râkım Efendi’dir. 1806 yılında vefat edene kadar saray kâtipliğine ve talebe yetiştirmeye devam eden Zühdî-i Sânî, Edirnekapı mezarlığında medfûndur.--------------------In the history of the art of the calligraphy, inspired by Sheikh Hamdullah and Hâfız Osman, Ismail Zuhdi Efendi is one of the most important names grown during the 18th century. He was born in Unye province of Ordu and later on taken by his father at a young age to Istanbul. Completing his memorization, Ismail Zuhdi Efendi got acknowledged by Morali Ahmed Hıfzi Efendi, Mehmed Emin Efendi and Mehmed Şakir Mihallici, after taking courses from them such as rica, sulus and nesih. Thanks to his extraordinary endeavors and mercy, he attracted the attention of the third Mustafa and rose to the level of a palace clerk. Due to his extraordinary flawless writing skills, he has a unique place in history. Having written more than 40 Mushaf-ı Serif, Amme fascicles, delailu hayrât and his self-contained fascicles, Ismail Zuhdu Efendi has also sulus-nesih murakkas, kıt’as, hilye-i serifs and drafts. Moreover, he has many paintings and special collections garnishing many museums. The most outstanding one of them all is surely the stork patterned one in GY-314/40 TSMK. Other than these examples, he has stone inscription works such as the ones in Eyup Sah Sultan Shrine, Safranbolu Izzet Pasa Mosque, Sanizade Mosque Fountain and the grave stone of the Hatice Hanim at the Nisanci Mehmed Pasa Mosque. İsmail Zuhdi Efendi was a teacher to many of the elders of his time and of his own students. Out of these, without any doubt, the most important one is his brother Mustafa Rakım Efendi. Until his death in 1806, he had continued with his clergy and teaching. Today he lies in Edirnekapı Cemetry.
